WELCOME TO WOODS' WORDS

Woods’ Words started out like any other small business starts at the kitchen counter. First, it was a way to get our children away from the non-stop screen time in the summer and spend time together as a family. 

They loved creating their own keychains and showing them off to friends and family. We never thought that Mom and Dad would have more fun than all of them put together. 

Fast forward a few weeks, there was a small Farmer’s Market that was starting in our hometown. Curious as to if our items would be profitable, we took the plunge and signed up for the first one. After the event ended, we were surprised in the number of products that were sold and loved seeing people think our sayings were funny. 

Hence the name Woods’ Words.

At the end of summer and four vendor events later, we thought “maybe this could just actually work for us.” We realized that we have far outgrown our little kitchen and started the hunt for a perfect office space. After viewing multiple suites, we fell in love with Suite 250 inside of the Frances Building in Downtown Sioux City. The area was bigger than we ever thought we would need, great location with even better businesses surrounding us, and a place to really start gaining customers.

During this time, we were grateful that Joseph had resigned from his job and took over taking and making all of the sales. Needless to say, he is a dang good salesman and we have been busy ever since July! Jackie booked craft fairs along the way and it was at this point that we realized people love being able to create their own items and take them home with them the same day.  We stepped back and re-evaluated how we would set up our next booth. 

Each table is set up as a different station, first you choose a blank item such as a hat, t-shirt, or tote bag. Then you go the next table that has all the different patches to choose from along with iron on designs and says, once you are complete, bring the item to us and we will heat press it right on site. This turned out to be a huge hit!

We transitioned from only doing craft fairs into helping smaller businesses around the area by getting their logo on affordable products with a quick turnaround time. Our very first customers were a food truck and a local political candidate. After 50 t-shirts and 100 koozies between the two orders we thought we were doing good, not great. 

Then the orders really started rolling in. An order of a tentative amount of 500 shirts/sweatshirts, we knew we needed to crack down and take the time to set up our social media accounts and a website so more people could find us.

Even though we are still in the early stages our business, we are eager and ready for all of the orders we can handle. So, tell your friends, neighbors, family, coworkers, bosses, everyone all about our business.

Our goal as a small family-owned business is to be able to give back to our community along with raising awareness for causes that are near and dear to our hearts.
